How to Track Odds Movement on Outlier

Learn how to use Outlier’s Odds Movement feature to track sportsbook odds changes, compare movement across books, and monitor markets in real time on Premium+ and Pro.

Written by Jalen Reynolds

Odds don't always stay the same after a market opens. Sportsbooks can adjust their prices throughout the day, and Odds Movement lets you see how those prices have changed over time.

With Outlier's Odds Movement feature, Premium+ and Pro users can compare sportsbook prices and see the movement of a market in real time.

What Is Odds Movement?

Odds Movement shows how a sportsbook's odds have changed for a specific betting outcome over time.

For example, a player prop may open at one price and move to a different price later in the day. Looking at that movement gives you additional context around the current odds you're seeing.

Odds Movement is one piece of information to consider when researching a bet. It does not guarantee that odds will continue moving in the same direction or that a particular bet will win.

How to Access Odds Movement

Odds Movement is available directly from Market Details for Premium+ and Pro users. You can access it from the Games, Props, and EV+ tabs.

  1. Open a market in Outlier.

  2. Locate the Odds Movement icon next to the line selector.

  3. Select the icon to open the Odds Movement chart.

  4. Select or deselect sportsbooks to compare their odds movement.

See it in action:

The GIF above shows how to open the Odds Movement chart directly from Market Details.

The Odds Movement icon is available regardless of whether the market you're viewing currently has a +EV opportunity.

Odds Movement for EV+ Opportunities

Odds Movement can also be accessed directly from the EV+ section when an EV+ opportunity is available. Select Odds Movement to view the movement of the available sportsbook odds for that opportunity

Which Sportsbooks Are Shown?

Outlier automatically selects relevant sportsbooks based on the type of market you're viewing.

For non-EV markets

The default sportsbooks include:

  • Sportsbook(s) selected in your global book filter

  • Pinnacle, when odds are available for the market

Other sportsbooks with available Odds Movement data can be manually added to the chart.

For +EV opportunities

Outlier automatically selects the relevant books based on your EV filter and the sportsbook offering the opportunity.

You can still manually select or deselect any other sportsbook with available Odds Movement data.

This allows you to compare the sportsbook offering the opportunity against other available prices in the market.

How to Read the Odds Movement Chart

The Odds Movement chart shows how sportsbook prices have changed over time.

Example: Garrett Wilson Receiving Yards

In this example, Garrett Wilson's receiving-yards line is 59.5 yards. The current price shown is Over 59.5 at -120 on Fanatics.

The chart provides additional context by showing previous prices for the market. You can see that the Over 59.5 price has not remained constant, giving you a view of how the market has changed rather than only seeing the current odds.

The chart can help you answer questions like:

  • What price was this market previously available at?

  • Has the sportsbook's price moved?

  • How does the current price compare with earlier prices?

  • Are other sportsbooks showing similar movement?

How Much Odds Movement Data Is Available?

Outlier displays:

  • The last 24 hours of Odds Movement data, or

  • Data from when the market opened if the market has been available for less than 24 hours.

This keeps the chart focused on the most recent movement in the market.

Odds Movement Updates in Real Time

Odds Movement is designed to update while you're actively viewing the chart.

While the chart is open:

  • Odds refresh every 5 seconds

  • New movement is reflected on the chart in real time

  • Data refresh pauses if you navigate to another tab or close the window

This means you can keep the chart open while monitoring a market and see new price changes as they occur.

Odds Movement + EV

Odds Movement can be particularly useful when researching a +EV opportunity.

An EV opportunity tells you that the current price represents positive expected value relative to Outlier's market calculations. Odds Movement gives you another layer of information by showing how that price has changed over time.

For example, if a +EV opportunity is currently available at a particular sportsbook, you can open Odds Movement to see how that sportsbook's price compares with its previous prices and other available books.

Remember: Odds Movement is additional market information, not a prediction of where the line will move next.

Availability: Odds Movement is currently available on Outlier Web and iOS for Premium+ and Pro users. Support for Android is coming soon.
